| Dannie visits the Patron Saint of Paris, and this blog, Saint Genevieve. |
Dannie's been traveling in Europe all summer with her family and I've really missed her. I was just thinking about her yesterday when I saw this picture in my inbox.
This statue of Saint Genevieve resides in Luxembourg Gardens, one of my favorite places in Paris. Just to stroll around immerses one in the beauty and the splendour of the city.
I really love Dannie's outfit, the color-blocking, the feminine use of vibrant pops of color tempered by basic black accessories and a very Parisian looking scarf... it's just perfection.
I was privy to Dannie's travel wardrobe just before she left and it was very small but she chose plenty of color and dresses as her basics. Perhaps she will share a synopsis with us when she returns home!
I hope you are all well. We've had a wonderful time visiting Dad in Atlanta, what have you been up to?
Have you visited Saint Genevieve? Are you curious to see the rest of Dannie's travel wardrobe?

Hello Dani:
ReplyDeleteParis, of course, is one of our favourite north European cities although these days we tend to rather neglect it preferring to travel to warmer climes!
Later this month we shall be in Venice for a few days, a city easily reached from Budapest and to which we go quite often. Fortunately the tourists never stray much beyond St. Mark's Square and the Rialto both of which, sadly, have now to be avoided.
Hi Jane, I am going to Budapest next week. I've been asking my boyfriend, who is there now, what to pack and what people wear there but he hasn't been much help haha. Do you have any tips/recommendations? Thanks!
DeleteJane and Lance I look forward to reading about Venice, it's near the top of my list these days!
DeleteLea I haven't yet been to Budapest though we may go next fall. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Lea, I used to live in Budapest so I can tell you that people are not sooo dressed up there. It will probably be quite warm - for example, I see that today it's 24C, which will be quite comfortable. In high summer it's stiflingly hot. Have a great time!
DeleteDani - you must let me know if you decide to go! And you might even meet up with the Hattats - wouldn't that be wonderful?!!
'Hattatts' - sorry!
DeleteThanks Patricia!
DeleteDannie looks wonderful and dressed to walk in Paris, one of the best places to walk on the planet. Must get to that statue at some point, fierce braid. We would all love to see her travel choices as we cannot get enough ideas for our packing. I wonder if the natives wore bright this year? Colors are usually subdued there.
ReplyDeleteHi Lane, so true that braid is fierce. I love that ring of powerful women in statue at Luxembourg, really leaves me in awe.
DeleteShe looks chic and put together, perfect shoe choice for all that walking!
ReplyDeleteHi DesertFlower, Dannie thought long and hard about her footwear and I think she chose well!
DeleteShe looks stunning in that colour combination, what great trip she must be having.
ReplyDeleteAh so that's where you've been, I was going to email but then I thought, sheesh blog stalker!
Hi Tabs, yes I've been in the south, it was so pretty there and so wonderful to be with my Dad.
DeleteWhat a wonderful picture. My eyes were immediately drawn to the shoes. I always default to a comfortable shoe when traveling!
ReplyDeleteHi KnitYarns, I wish I were as sensible!
DeleteShe looks effortlessly chic and feminine in her outfit. Love her use of color.
ReplyDeleteHi AmW, Dannie has a great eye for color, in fact she teaches the subject.
DeleteShe looks beautiful in all that color, and how sweet to take a photo by the patron saint of your blog. Yes, would love to see more.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, Dannie is beyond sweet, one of the loveliest women I know and all thanks to this blog.
DeleteShe looks lovely! WOuld love her ideas, since I start my packing plan this weekend and hope to see the statue myself whilst there!
ReplyDeleteOK I'm going to December, I think we should start a modern pilgrimage!
DeleteI think this is a fine idea, Tabitha!
DeleteRather than the cross like the crusades, my shield will display my modern Heraldry:
A champagne flute
Shoes
A cheese wheel
A guide to the museums
A concertina
I would be happy to return in December with you to take the city! I will, of course, take the name Porthos, which I claim by right of age and that I want to look like a dandy in my 50s!
WMM and Tabs, you are cracking me up. I'm in on the pilgrimage.
DeleteThis outfit is so great, I love those vibrant colors... And the mix of red and pink is such a success... I would love to see the rest of her traveling outfits... I am myself traveling and I have been much more adventurous with colors myself and I was so happy with my downsizing... My husband was very surprise of the little baggage I have. I am planning to do some laundry and use the cleaning service of hotels, nut i don't think i will need to do too much... Glad to hear you had some great time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your week.
Love
Stephanie
Hi Steph, pink and red done properly is daring but so pretty. I am so happy to know your packing was a success.
DeleteI live in Paris and have noted that women are wearing bright colours this summer, but on their nails! It's great to see these little pops of neon. :)
ReplyDeleteAnon : so true, brights and patterns are just so American, we fear them here.
DeleteThese colors are so cheering, I'm so tired of gray and black!
DeleteDRESSING BRIGHT Dani, thanks to you and Dannie for sharing that bloom of an outfit and lovely backdrop. There are eye candy and hidden treasures to discover in almost every corner of Paris. I think Dannie is very stylish and quite brave. I generally tend to shy away from colour in that city where dark neutrals are prevalent, even in summer. Plus is just seems simpler to travel with more conservative basics - red and pink can be a tough pairing to pull off in a sophisticated yet comfortable way. But this so works! Here's to modern pilgrimages with small, stylish suitcases. Hope she shares more...
ReplyDeleteHi GetFresh, I'm going to ask Dannie to guest post on this in the fall!
DeleteHi Dani, thanks for posting this. Dannie looks wonderful - perhaps you can persuade her to do a guest post when she returns?
ReplyDeleteI've walked through the Luxembourg gardens, but I don't believe I have seen St. Genevieve - but then that was before I started reading your blog, so I wouldn't have known about her!
Quiet times here, but with a birthday and our anniversary as pretext I was able to find a great everyday bag at Roots, on sale no less. Very happy here!
Hi Patricia, yes you've read my mind!
DeleteOooh I'd love to see your bag. Roots offerings keep getting better and better!
Happy Birthday and Anniversary!
Hi Dani,
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and have lurked for a long time. Dannie reminds me of me, I am from a culture that loves colour and so I travel brightly! I would love to see the rest of her outfits.
Siri.
Hi Siri, Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! It sounds like you and Dannie are kindred spirits. Please stay tuned, I hope she will share more!
DeleteSuch a pretty outfit. I'm glad she used brights for her trip-I get lazy and lean towards black, white and denim when I travel-though I usually pop in a few scarves for color.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, Do you not love the scarf she used to tie it all in? Her small wardrobe is brilliant, it all fit in a very small bag.
DeleteMy kind of colours! Is Dannie going to start a blog? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, I don't know but we can ask her! She's a designer with lots of ideas on color, really talented.
DeleteIt made me happy to see a such a colorful outfit in Paris. I Am going to Europe for the first time next week and I was getting a little nervous that there was too much color going on in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteHi Lea, Don't be shy to bring on the color, Dannie has been all over Europe with her colorful wardrobe this summer. I think it is fresh and perfect, plus you will look terrific in all the photos!
DeleteSafe travels to you!
