I also love gold for Hanukkah though the traditional colors are blue and silver. I conjure up the gold of the foil wrapped coins we give the kids and the potatoes I use to make the latkes: yukon gold.
Of course once thoughts turn to Christmas we can throw it all in there, the gold, the silver, the red and green.
I thought I'd mine the Anthropologie site for a few tidbits of gold and in its quirky decadence the site did not disappoint.

(I'll be offline today but back tonight to respond to comments in the comfortable haze of pumpkin pie, a glass of cognac and the football, I'll see you then.)

Oh Dani, so pretty and shiny, the uM. magpie in me wants to buy (and decorate, of course.) Have a lovely mini-feast together and raise a glass to your Dad and Sis etc. I am thinking of many reasons to give thanks and making the traditional pie (sssh, don't tell, with brandy whipped cream, then will hit the treadmill, tomorrow.)
ReplyDeleteHi GF, we had pumpkin pie with whipped cream as well, though my brandy bottle was empty! Must address that situation!
DeleteThe salt cellar and hedgehog cups are fab! I too am loving gold just now which is quite unlike me.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Dani. You too Get Fresh!
Tabs I knew you'd love that salt cellar!
DeleteMany thanks to you Dani, for all of the beauty, insight and perfectly edited posts you have provided us for so long. A Thanksgiving toast to you, and your delightful blog community, I am so grateful for both.
ReplyDeleten.b. thank you so much! What a lovely comment, you have certainly made my morning!
DeleteOh I love Gold! I have the most beautiful gold dress from Cynthia Steffe that I love and of course my gold shoes that I got earlier this year. Wonder if Fred has seen the hedgehog? I may need those! I love the gold carafe at the top. Well, I actually love it all! I may make a chicken today. I am having a completely restful, cozy day - the most I will do is dig out the Christmas china. I plan to watch the parade and then am excited because the 1934 version of Anne of Green Gables is on TCM and I am taping it - I haven't seen for 30 years. Big cozy day!
ReplyDeleteWMM, Ta for TCM tip and please do a post on your Christmas china too. Grey Cup prep is in full swing outside my home office window.
DeleteI am a huge Anne fan and have already recorded this and am in the middle of watching it! It's brilliant!
DeleteSulky, now I know that, you really are the cat's meow! I couldn't wait and watched it over extended lunch today.
DeleteWMM I hope your day was perfectly cozy. I must look for that version of Anne, I would love to see that!
DeleteLove gold in fall and winter! I thought of you when I saw those hedgehogs, hee. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving meal tonight!
ReplyDeleteM aren't those hedgehogs so absolutely adorable? Hope you had a great holiday.
DeleteI'm sure your Thanksgiving meal will be delicious, Dani - you're such a good cook. Love the little hedgehogs, so cute and dinky.
ReplyDeleteSulky it was delicious, I'm planning to eat the leftovers today too, maybe my favorite part!
DeleteHey Dani, another thumbs up for the hedgehogs! Enjoy your Thanksgiving meal.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patricia!
DeleteWe are not celebrating Thanksgiving here in Luxembourg... but always have warm thoughts for my friends who do celebrate it... I agree, it is a lovely way to enter the festive season. Have a fabulous Thanksgiving day!
ReplyDeleteHi Steph, thanks for your good wishes.
DeleteI love that dress! Where is it from? Have a lovely day today!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, it is from Anthropolgie, I think a fairly new arrival. Isn't it so festive looking? I made your cranberry sauce yesterday, it was delicious!
DeleteBe well on this day.
ReplyDeleteThank you James, I hope your day was excellent.
DeleteDani, Love the last blk and gold dress! Have a great dinner and desert.Did you make any pies? I tried making an apple pie .Hopefully it tastes better than it looks. I made the crust from scratch, however not great on borders where you seal the two pieces together.Do you have any tricks on pie crust? Sometimes I feel like im writing to Ann Landers when I ask you these questions. Hope you dont mind, your just so good at everything! What did you wear for dinner? Im sticking with pencil skirt and sweater. Comfy and warm. Have a great day and Go Pats!!!
ReplyDeleteWith you on the Pats! And since DBP can't be back today, chiming in on a very topic close to my tummy, pie crust. My best advice, gleaned from my grandma who made 12 pies every Friday (she had 11 kids) > "CCL" cold ingredients, chill the just-mixed dough, and limit handling. I am a frozen butter crust and Pyrex (glass) pie plate person, because they bake more evenly. Food processors make pie crust easy. Rolling your dough on parchment or waxed paper also makes clean-up fast. *To get your borders to seal, brush or finger-tip a little bit of ice water around the bottom crust edge before placing the top crust and crimping.* My fave is still the classic "scallop" crimp, index finger to push inner edge out while pinching the outer edge around that using your pinched thumb and other index finger. HTH! (And agreed DBP is brill at many things!)
DeleteAnon please listen to GF, I am rubbish with pie crusts, they end up tasting okay but they look awful! I took a picture of my pumpkin pie yesterday to prove it!
DeleteI wore one of my daily uniform black dresses yesterday with an apron, I need to get out some festive frocks!
Happy Thanksgiving Dani! I too am loving gold. Pinned those hedgehogs a while back, and still thinking to buy them for holiday gifts. We're having 17 here for dinner and I've been cooking and prepping for days. It's my favorite holiday. Have a wonderful day with your family!
ReplyDeleteKathy well it's all over now and I hope your dinner was excellent. I'm sure all of the prep work you did paid off.
DeleteI haven't pinned those hedgehogs great idea. They would make a lovely gift.
Those wee hedgehogs are charming and that dress is lovely.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day of family, food and football!
Hi Hostess, our dinner was fun and we watched a bit of football but of course it was a work day for MrBP, we didn't sit down to dinner until 7 which didn't leave much time for football watching. Of course I was collapsed by 9:30 in my typical hard-partying fashion!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to All! Gorgeous day here, the bees are flying, girls are working on the veggies while I take a break. This is our favorite holiday; it would be fun to have some gold to wear.
ReplyDeleteLane your day must have been wonderful, it was a gorgeous day!
DeleteWhere did you find those hedgehogs? I adore them.
ReplyDeleteHi Margie, they are at Anthropologie, aren't they perfect?
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving all! We had eighteen for dinner and two dogs. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! What did you cook Dani and what did you wear? No Black Friday scrambling for us, we are sleeping in and watching basketball tomorrow night-Go 'Cats! Those little hedgehogs are darling, I might buy them for my mom for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteDavid I'm sure she'd love them. I did a typical turkey dinner which everyone loves but it was only the 4 of us. 18!! Yes rest up today!
DeleteWhy do I also love gold right now when all around me is silver and platinum. Those hedgehogs are adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day Dani.
Marsha it's the zeitgeist, I also find gold very attractive right now and platinum has always been my favorite!
