I've been looking for a little table for my new bathroom, just something small to hold my makeup things.
This little table from the Napoleon III apartments at the Louvre would be perfect!

| Little sweet table, Napoleon III apartments, Louvre. |
| I'll be eating my greens this week. |
Then, spurred into activity by that fresh cupboard, I made some spiced mixed nuts. Nigella gave me the recipe, you can see it here.
Those spicy nuts are delicious and perfect with a glass of wine. I guess I won't be having any for a couple of days but I have consumed my fair share already.
How is your week shaping up?
xoDani

Nuts are my downfall, I can take or leave chocolate and sweet things but I have to be cattle prodded away from cream and nuts.
ReplyDeletePhew I never go on a health kick, hmm...
Hope your sore throat clears up soon, I loathe that gravel swallow that comes with it.
Thanks Tabs I felt better this morning after loafing around all day yesterday.
DeleteI made a nut granola this morning, I know they have loads of calories but I don't care, I think they are good for the skin.
The health kick won't last long, I was just thinking I should have a glass of wine tonight! And I'm making homemade bread right now!
UTTER NUTTER DBP I hope the homework got checked off and your throat is much better this morning.
ReplyDeleteNigella's bar nuts look very similar to Ina Garten's rosemary cashews, which works with all kinds of nuts.
Yum. With Tabs, have the choc and cookies, but leave me the nuts and cheese (actually, if they are at my elbow won't be any left, soon.)
I am also off it all for now, but not as an energy boost, so I can actually eat while wearing collection of Christmas frocks (vain, but practical, don't need more dresses).
A wee vanity table is a lovely and useful idea. Hope yours comes to you soon...
GF they are similar and speaking of Ina I'm planning to make several of her recipes from the Paris book this week!
DeleteI hope your health regimen kicks in soon so you can enjoy the season. I am planning a cleaning with help on Wednesday so of course must pre-clean. Christmas tree this week. I keep a little bag of cashews, almonds and chocolate around for energy ( no salt)
ReplyDeleteLane I think I eat too much salt, I'm sure it's making my eyes puffy in the morning too, I must lay off of it!
DeleteA big clean sounds good, my house needs bulldozing with all of the reno work going on.
Nice blog
ReplyDeleteParfum pas cher
I don't think you should be exercising with a sore throat. Great to add greens and fruits, but it's also good to treat yourself when you're feeling sick, not the time for deprivation. Get some zinc tablets and suck on those - great for sore throats.
ReplyDeleteLots of soup too.
Kathy I think I did overdo it today I should have taken your advice. An hour of classical stretch was good but then I went on a 1.5 hour hike, now I'm exhausted!
DeleteI must get some zinc, thank you.
An 1.5 hike? Dani, that takes masses of energy, you've just used up your day's worth!
DeleteTabs, it did but I slept like a baby, the benefits of walking the battle march with Christopher!
DeleteHi Dani - I hope that your sore throat gets better soon. I'm sure your health kick will do the trick.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I put together a few different types of cookie dough and froze them - I'll be baking next Sunday and Monday for the community dinner on Tuesday. Today I'm writing Christmas cards - it took me hours yesterday just to address them! We also still have some parcels to send out, so we'll be fixtures at the post office this week. Feel better soon.
Good work Patricia, I'm behind on my baking. Must get a batch of piggy cookies on the go!
DeleteI don't write Christmas cards which is shameful of me. I was at the post office today and it was a madhouse!
I hope your throat feels better soon...perhaps it is allergies...mine are in full swing so I'm always dry from the sudafed.
ReplyDeleteThis week I have a lot of baking to do and quite a bit of work as well. I'm going to a treat exchange this week where we have to bring packets of a dozen sweet or savory treats to share. The kicker is there are 14 women going, so a lot of ginger cookies need to be baked by Sunday.
Julie your treat exchange sounds like a good idea. Another busy week for you and with allergies, take care of yourself.
Deleteoooh. I'm not feeling well either--chest cold. Good girl eating your greens. I'm on a health kick right now too including exercise. Miranda won't hurt us I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI love the nuts recipe. I think it is from Danny Meyer's Union Station cookbook from two decades back. Irresistible. I'm with Tabs. Cannot have nuts or cream (whipping, sour, mascarpone, fraiche) in the house without devouring all.
Dannie oh no. Are you taking time from work to rest? I hope you are.
DeleteI did the new Classical Stretch again today (Class of 2012) and it is awesome! It is an hour long but what a great workout. Her daughter hosts it.
That table is beautiful! But you probably need something simpler (if it is for the all white bathroom with subway tile) and easier to find.
ReplyDeleteYou are so disciplined about your health regime, I usually just eat what I like which in general is pretty healthy, except for plenty of wine, which I am not ready to give up. Hope your sore throat will get better soon, for me it would be chicken soup and plenty of lemon and echinacea tea.
Ajc that table would suit me just fine but it is a bit fancy. I bought a gorgeous curtain from Anthro for that bathroom, white linen with silver embroidery, and a cut glass and silver chandelier. So I do need a simple table!
DeleteThanks I should go have some lemon tea right now.
Oh this is sooo pretty, now you must get a white table with gilded with silver, I would envision something like this. Don't know the vendor just thinking of style. Now you got me excited for your bathroom, lol.
DeleteI'm sitting with a snack pack of mixed nuts! I've got a thing for Brazil nuts at the moment (trying to stay away from the chocolate covered ones).Just put your tootsies up and have a soothing mulled wine. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sulky that's good advice if I ever saw it. I think the dust in my house is adding to my sickly feeling, how are your renos? Is your kitchen finished?
DeleteNot quite - but I am! So tedious! I had a kitchen fitter who regaled me with crazy tales of lusty housewives offering him payment in kind.Really! I just wanted to stick a screwdriver through his head.I had to let him live, Dani, because I need that kitchen finished. He'll never know how close he was to the pearly Gates!
DeleteSulky, well what a creepy little man! You showed such restraint, yes he may never know how close he came!
DeleteJumping in to say Kate's pregnant! I am so so envious, the last few months for the first time ever all I can think is 'wish I had had a baby" Maybe that's what kicks in when 50 starts to loom!
ReplyDeleteTabs everyone will be mad with excitement. How terrible for her that she has that extreme morning sickness though, I had the mild version and it was no fun. What she has is much worse.
DeleteFunny you're having that thought, is there a hormone rush in our 40's that urges us to give it one last kick? I love love babies, even a couple of years ago I wanted to have another.
Tabs! I have a 17 year old for you...
DeleteSo happy for Kate and William! We are all Kate mad at our place!
tabitha i'll throw in my 3 too! please!
DeleteI can throw in some step-kids! They are, though, just about your age Tabitha.
DeleteI'm throwing myself in - I'm very childish apparently!!
DeleteTabs,
DeleteI think Santa should put a puppy under the tree. It brings new life to the home and lots of mischief.
You could adopt Sulky, or you could get a puppy. Is Sulky housebroken?
DeleteYes two cheers for the puppy. WHen I was contemplating baby #3 we got a lhaso ahpso puppy. He assumed all rights and privelages of being baby #3 and no stretch marks!
DeleteOk everyone pack up your offspring and send them to their Aunt's butt and ben in Scotland.
DeleteTabs suddenly you've got a large family to take care of, it's going to be hons and rebels at your place!
Deletehehe, how about everybody sends you their offspring for a week at a time, I am sure we can book entire year. Mine could even take pictures for your blog...
DeleteI hope you are feeling better soon! I made italian wedding soup last night and threw lots of kale in! No nuts for me (allergies, but you can go ahead and say I am nuts enough!)
ReplyDeleteAm off the wine and sugars myself. None to be had until Saturday night and next Christmas holiday event! I will be good, good, good and hopefully will sleep better!
WMM hmph I was planning to drink and be merry straight through the holidays but I have to be good as well. Until Miller Time that is!
DeleteI hope you sleep better. DId you get some magnesium?
i love those statues and hope one day to see them myself! feel better soon. that kale will do the trick!
ReplyDeleteJanet kale cures all I'm convinced.
DeleteI hope you are feeling better soon. All of your spice containers look so nice! I have all my little canisters piled into an old shoe box (and not even a glamorous shoe box at that).
ReplyDeleteA speedy recover to you!
Thanks Merry Wife. I am much better today, sore throat is gone.
DeleteNot so much exercise when you're sick. A short, lovely walk to get some fresh air, perhaps. And not so much fruit, believe it or not, but vegetables are always good. Keep warm, rest well and get better soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany, funny I didn't end up eating fruit yesterday after all. I did make a leek and celery root soup that was delicious.
DeleteThank you!
Haven't the Louvre staff delivered your table as an early Christmas present?
ReplyDeleteThat Kate is a saint--to put up with the lack of privacy with a smile. She makes everyone so happy and a little one just takes the cake!
New Miranda? What will that woman think of next! I'm sore from 20 minutes yesterday!
Dannie you have to get that new video! It is a long one but I'm only going to do it 3X a week.
DeleteI feel bad for the Duchess, she is a very ill woman right now and I hope and pray they get a handle on it, I'm sure she is getting the best of care.
I am attempting to join you! Although I still have one glass of wine/night when I'm in penance:).
