Warmth from Brora

Lambswool Blankets from Brora
I just love this image of these handsome dogs all snuggled up together on a lambswool check blanket.
Today's offer from Brora is special pricing on these amazing "lambswool rugs".  As a special bonus they are donating funds to Child Bereavement UK for each blanket sold.  Warmth all around.

I find this sort of blanket so useful, I've got one on my front porch for the neighbourhood cat, one in the living room to hide the wine stain on a chair, and several in the family room for movie-watching with The Rascals.  Are you a fan of the checked blanket?

  1. What a picture, I want the dogs, I wonder what they are, Italian whippets, lurchers, any one know? I love dog's with long faces, like dachshunds etc.

    2. Tabs I am always surprised you don't have a dog, I can see you with one so clearly.

    3. I think they're Italian greyhounds, and I agree, I can see you with a dog so clearly. We have two dachshunds, and I highly recommend them!

    4. Those are whippets - such cutie pies!

I have an Italian Greyhound. When I take her for a walk, it's very much like going out to a club with a much better looking friend. Ah well, life with a diva.

  4. BRINGING BLANKIE I'd love one of the four-legged friends too. And your neighbourhood cat must meow kind you! Plaid wool blankets always remind me of picnics in NS or UK rain. I only have HBC striped one, prefer quilts, alpaca throws. But something else to add to my Brora list as assuming theirs, along with enduring, won't itch.

    1. GF our neighbourhood cat is a bit odd, he's always trying to get in the house, I have to be quite careful with the door open, MrBP allergies and all.
I have a long Brora list just now even though I've just bought some things!

  5. Reminds me of my greyhound. He had a favorite blanket that started off being ours but ended up being his. I have a few of this type of blanket purchased during trips over the border to Mexico. They are heavy and warm, though can be itchy since the wool is a bit coarse. The Brora version looks much more snuggly.

    1. Hi DF, funny how dogs take over like that! I'm sure the Brora version is not itchy at all.

  6. I like those a lot! I have looked at the Brora web site but I can't tell what anything costs in U.S. dollars. I could use a big blanket like that to cover the couch, because our dog snuggles up there whether it's covered or not, but I need it to be washable and these say dry clean.

    1. Hi Cate, I don't dry clean my wool and cashmere from Brora, I wash it on the wool cycle in my machine using a gentle organic soap, then I hang it to dry.
Here's how to calculate your Brora costs, go to an online currency converter to switch GBP to USD. Keep in mind too that Brora prices include the UK VAT, which is 20%. The VAT is removed for shipping to the US and Canada, so we pay a lower price than what you see on the site. Once you start the checkout and switch to international shipping the costs will automatically be shown without the VAT.

  7. Love the blankets and love the dogs. In the movie "The English Patient", Katherine was using a wool plaid blanket for warmth at night in the desert.
I really think it was the Brora red one. It looked great with her khakis.

  11. oh I'd love a dog and a lambswool blanket or two! i have a terrific plaid Laura Ashley wrap that I adore. It goes well with everything although most people think i'm wearing a picnic blanket. but it's perfect for ME with my tweed and plaid addictions.

  12. Hi Dani, that does look cosy! We have a similar wool blanket, from a shop on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Growing up we always had these blankets for picnics etc., very useful.
By the way, I've just signed up for the Apartment Therapy January Cure - hoping to kick-start the de-cluttering again.

  13. So funny, the blanket reminded me of my old carriage robe from when I was a baby. My mom saved it, used it for my sister, saved it again and was very insulted when my sister and I lined the puppy's bed with it.

  14. I agree that the blanket looks extremely cozy, Dani! I wouldn't mind having it and the dogs, too. Your neighborhood cat is lucky to have one to lay on, and must love being at your house. :)

  15. I saw this today and almost ordered a couple - they are so lovely!

But honestly, I am spent out. I keep thinking of January Brora sales....

We have blankets everywhere - I must be covered at all times. It is the cult of the M-Ms...

  16. Ooh, that looks so cozy and warm and lovely. I was eyeing a similar Pendleton one, but might have to look into a Brora blanket!
