I think the maid above with her enviable large duster and full pinafore-style apron closely resembles my daily look.
See for yourself:

I thought I had my daily uniform quite figured out but then the weather turned cold, very cold. Those Eileen Fisher dresses are not warm enough for the winter.
So of course I must turn to Brora.

They are cozy two-ply cashmere yet have a nice shape to them, they are the perfect foundation for an apron, sensible shoes and a single strand of pearls: done.
Well it's Sunday, we're off to church and it's the one day a week I haul out a skirt suit and leave the apron on the kitchen hook.
I hope you have a great day and that you are tucking into a nice meal at some point!
xoDani

You're amazing. Do you "do" your hair and some make up everyday as well? I love Brora's Heath cashmere. I have a v-neck sweater in it and it's one of me favorites. Have a really lovely Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI just saw a book I think you would enjoy - The Butler's Guide To Running The Home and Other Graces by Stanley Ager.
ReplyDeleteYou take homekeeping to a whole other level of sophistication Dani!
What a stunner you are at home Dani. I'd love a cashmere dress, they must be so snuggly and cosy.
ReplyDeleteOff to look up that colour.
Dani - I am with the others! You are such a marvel to me!! You always inspire me to try a little harder!
ReplyDeleteOnce again perfection. Just checked the colour heath and yes it's bag approved. Remember I wanted to order the Brora Scottish Tweed coat as I don't have a coat for dresses. They have a promo today so it's on it's way across the pond Have a wonderful Sunday with the family. We're having an open house with the neighbours and we spend 1/2 hour at each house . Starts at 6p.m and it's over at 9p.m. Lots of fun. I'm going to make the penguins from Sue's blog this afternoon. That should put me over the edge!
ReplyDeleteMarsha, if you want to be really OTT, add a red pimento (the roasted jarred kind) holiday scarf to each penguin. What a fun idea for a block party.
DeleteYou've got to be kidding adding a scarf.LOL. Actually the penguins were supper easy to make and I have them marching along on a narrow white platter in 2 rows. They're adorable and I can't wait for the reaction. We're house #3 so everybody will be festive by then.
DeleteGF - I think you and Dani need some kind of home business together! You can take care of Tabs and I who will be hermits in the shed. I just hope she brings that lucite clutch as I want to play with it!
DeleteI agree Wendy GF always has the best ideas.
DeleteOh Marsha, you were in the middle, that's perfect. I just "do the google" too much, and while normally simple, can't occasionally resist gilding the lily.
DeleteWMM, can I pop in to play with Tabs' bag too, please. And I am seriously contemplating Brit fairy light imports, still. I think Canada needs some more winter glow!
Marsha I want the full report on the coat when it arrives!
DeleteOh you know I'll give you all the details Missy.
DeleteI have the Bompard version of that dress:). In gray with a v-neck but still, I feel we are spiritual cashmere twins and I like! I have been so inspired by your stylishness.
ReplyDeleteLPC I'll be your spiritual cashmere twin any day. Thank you, you are kind.
DeleteMy tights will be here tomorrow, just in the nick of time given colder weather *happy dance*. Roast chicken with lemon and sage later after an exciting "football" comeback, ah happy Sunday. (Hope Ms. Poppy Buttons is not too down after the good-bye party - a reason to visit new country?)
ReplyDeleteGF, Yay for the tights! Lovely dinner. Yes it was sad to say good-bye to my friend, the kids are finishing out school with their Dad and then they go back as well, that will not be a happy day.
DeleteYou're amazing, Dani. How lovely you must look at home. I think I'd be scared to death to wear cashmere and pearls if I am dusting but I suppose I should dust more often so it's not such a dangerous situation for cashmere and pearls. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it's bitterly cold where you are. We're lucky here, it's in the high 60s daytime.
Hi Tiffany, yes my Dad tortures me with tales of sunny warm days at his golf club, he's so happy he doesn't live in Canada.
DeleteI am not scared, I have aprons! This is the other thing: good cashmere is very sturdy and washes up well.
Dani, I was in Anthro today and saw the most adorable winter-weight tights with little foxes and penguins on them, well, not at the same time. Thought of you and your flannel dresses.
ReplyDeleteApparently some Advice Lady once wrote a column on how you could save time and effort and laundry etc. if you did your housework before you put any clothes on. When you were done, you took a shower. This made a big impression on my parents, although they did not put it into practice. However, every time the blinds were down across the street, Mom would say, "Oh, she must be vacuuming."
Fred I feel cold just thinking about that foolish advice. At least it gave your parents a running joke, the best kind.
DeleteAnthro you say? When I go to that site it's like getting lost in toyland, the whimsy. I like it but then I just have to leave!
Finally, you and I have some common wardrobe items. I have the EF black dress and the Hue tights---and wear them often. It's much warmer here in Dallas (except for today) and they will stand me in good stead for much of the winter. I love your apron. Did you make it?
