In The Pink

Kissing Canaries
How about some sugary pink goodies on a gloomy winter day?  I spotted some eye candy this morning while scrolling through Kate Spade's new arrivals.

I like the highly impractical cotton candy clutch shown above, it would be darling for a young lady going to Prom, don't you think?
Tweed Pierce Coat
Madeline Trench
I like the colour but that's a mad price for a poly coat!

Robbie Skirt

Plaid Fremont Top

Simon 2" Heel
The one item I can recommend out of this sugary riot of pink: the heels.  I find Kate Spade heels very comfortable and a 2" heel is so manageable.
Kate Spade Square Studs in Flo Pink
At $38 a pair of Kate Spade earrings are an affordable way to buy into the saccharine trend.

I hope your Saturday is fun.  I have stacks of paperwork to attack today, that's not exactly hijinks and hilarity, is it?  Oh well, it will feel great to have it over with.  This evening we'll be heading over to a dinner party with some friendly neighbours we don't get to see often enough.
I might rummage around for something pink to wear!

How about you, is pink on your radar for spring or is it too sweet for your taste?

  1. Probably no surprise, but I'm not a fan of pink on me. But that "Kissing Canaries" clutch is quite adorable.

    1. Kathy that is no surprise you're right! I know there's something about that canary clutch. I would like to buy it for my older daughter as a graduation gift but she is refusing to go to her prom: kids these days.

    2. I wouldn't go to my prom either Dani, and that was in 1970!

  2. SIXTEEN CANDLES Like Kathy, not a stitch of pink personally, so not a jot of temptation for once. Dani, I did like your black & pink combos from past couple of years and that ballet chic tradition is a great way to inject a touch of early spring. Also hope the supposed silk lined skirt might work in your favour.
For the longest time, coloured/ costume earrings reminded me of Bananarama and the 1980s. But maybe they are a way to have a bit of a mid-winter bright spot on the cheapie?
Paperwork morning here too, but we can feel very virtuous when done. A tidy desk and file cabinet also always calms my internal whirr somehow. Enjoy your night!

    1. GF the skirt has shipped and I will be doing a full review you can be sure. We're all waiting to see if the silk was a typo! I do like black with soft pink and brown-white-pink was a favourite colour story for me last August. Truth is I've always liked pink! (John Hughes influence?)

    2. Oh I love soft blush pink and black too.

  3. Must be paperwork Saturday. I'm doing the same thing. There is nothing like reducing the stack to nothing to make me feel accomplished.

I love pink on others. My problem with it on me is that I'm not cute and I think pink screams cute, and the color dislikes me greatly. As we know, I look like death on a cracker in it :)

    1. DF good luck to you on your paperwork as well, right now I'm procrastinating but I wanted to respond down to your comment to let you know LOL: I've been using your "death on a cracker" expression all week! :)

    2. DF, "death on a cracker" is also now part of lexicon here, MUCH better than "death warmed over"!

  4. I love the plaid pattern on that sleeveless shirt, and the snakeskin heels are so pretty. I am fond of pink even though I don't wear it very often. I ordered the JC toothpick garment dyed denim jeans in soft peach (a nice clear pink in real life), only $20, and I can't wait to wear them this spring.

    1. I forgot to ask - have you had a chance to visit the Kate Spade store in Yorkdale? I finally managed to visit a couple weeks ago. The store is adorable. I thought it had quite a decent selection of bags, shoes and accessories, but the selection of the clothes was limited.

    2. Hi Louise, I haven't been to Yorkdale in ages but I would really like to see the store. The traffic into Toronto is really cramping my style these days and in winter weather it's a real nightmare. I'm hoping to get there in the spring!

  5. I love the clutch but like Kathy and Get Fresh and Desert Flower, pink isn't for me, it's too Barbie and girlie for my personality. Now I'm dying to see who wears pink!

  6. I like a soft blush pink but wear it very little.
A cashmere cardigan in pink would certainly be a welcome addition to my wardrobe and lovely for spring!
    Enjoy the dinner party.
The clutch is very Carrie Bradshaw it would go with that skirt she wore a lot.

  7. Pink is usually too sweet for me, but I like the raw tourmaline earrings that seem to have a touch of pink to them (but pricy!): http://www.katespade.com/designer-jewelry/designer-earrings/turquoise-mountain-tourmaline-studs/WBRU3720,default,pd.html?dwvar_WBRU3720_color=993&start=186&cgid=jewelry. I like the texture of the other raw earrings as well, but not for $400!

  8. I am a huge fan of pink and am convinced that on me it is assertive rather than Barbie! :-) I just have to watch out for too much twee, especially in Kate, whose stuff leans a bit toward the twee in general.

My most recent shoe purchases have been from KS and I've been very happy with them. Her clothes and shoes are a touch too expensive at FP, but I have found some good deals. And the Simon kitten heels are an excellent choice!

    1. Twee! That is the word to describe a lot of KS. I have been searching for the right word. Thank you!

  9. Not a big pink person, as you know, unless we count blush as pink. But I have to say I really liked the tipped silk boyshirt when I saw it in store, it is very pretty! You ordered the skirt! I looked for it but they didn't have it so you have to let us know!

  10. Think Pink!

You're right Dani, it is cheery for a grey winter day.

I don't wear pink, though it is flattering on me. I am super fair-skinned but have olive undertones, not blue. My compromise to wear the really saturated pink-ish colours, mostly magenta and coral.

  12. I like certain shades of pink, but find some are hard to wear. I think that pink with black can have a very Chanel vibe. I love the new pink tweed tee. I did note however to my favorite sales girl that the rack of Neon Fuschia Nicky sleeveless blouses were not selling - even at $29.99 and then 50% off. That is pretty telling. Some colors just are not wearable at all- by anyone!

  14. Hi Dani-When I saw that tweed coat on the KS site, I thought of you-how would you style it-a la dress and coat? I am having a small love affair now with pink, pink and gray, pink and black, you name it. Oh the blessings of silver and gray hair! Don't let that stack of paperwork cause a crease in your brow-there's an opportunity to dress for dinner ahead!

    1. Hi David, there was no dinner for us. Our dear MrBP was violently ill last night, beginning at about 6pm, we think he had food poisoning, he's all better this morning thank heavens. It might have been the Eggs Bennie he had when he took our daughters for lunch yesterday (while I did my paperwork!)

  15. Hi Dani!

I bought enough pink last year - I think I will probably pass this year (though who knows - may change my mind...) I like a nice rosy pink - I find pale pink too pale and the neon colours leave me quite ill! Like David, I thought of you in that pink tweed!

  16. Pink is not a color that I gravitate to. That said, certain shades of pink do wonders for my complexion so I will wear it in a scarf, shawl or cami under a blazer.

  17. Blush pink does me no good but I can get tired of bright pink, I once threw or gave away every bit of bright pink from my closet.

Love Kate Spade's Simon, the leather soles are a little delicate but the shoes are like kid gloves for my feet.

  18. Oh Dani, I don't even look at ANYTHING on the Kate Spade website except the sale stuff -- it is the only way I can control my clicking finger.

So, I love pink. It was my first favorite color, all the way until I became a lawyer and decided I needed to look grown. Off went the waist length hair, out when the color, and in with black black and more black. Since retiring at age 30 and moving on to kids, I have rediscovered color and now, with my 7 year old, share favorite colors of pink, any shade, and orange. What better way to brighten up a day (and a complexion!)?

The pink studs are gorgeous, I will definitely be getting those.

I recently purchased the Coach madison pinnacle pebbled leather lilly in pink pearl with a 25% coupon:

    http://www.coach.com/online/handbags/Product-madison_pinnacle_pebbled_leather_lilly-10551-10051-22330-en#119725

There is nothing I like better than rose gold, and this is a similar shade. Pebbled leather is supremely durable and good for me. The only thing I don't like is the bright gold, but I think I will learn to live with it. Do you have an opinion? Yours is always good judgment...

    1. Audreys that is one gorgeous bag! It has the perfect shape and strap situation: the top handle and a shoulder strap. I really like the look of a frame handbag, it's so lady-like and this bag manages to look modern as well.
I think the gold hardware is stunning. I prefer gold hardware even though I don't even own any gold jewelry, something about silver hardware always reads too casual to me (that's just my personal preference). I think the brighter gold is a nice complement to the rose-gold of the leather, the gold is a bit more jarring on the black version of the bag.
I just bought a black handbag for evening and it does have my preferred gold hardware with a matte finish. My dark brown LV bag has gold hardware that is fairly bright but I love it.
Your bag will be perfect this year and especially with your love of pink!

  20. WMM's post yesterday must have inspired my candy-pink cardigan today (Tippi - spoils of the 40% J. Crew sale)! I love pink, I have a good bit of it, but no Kate Spade. I like the look of those shoes, and they are my kind of heel height! I never go out of my way to buy pink things but they always draw me in.
