She's a Study

My "Studies"
Mary Queen of Scots and Marie Antoinette
My mother-in-law loved to discuss what was going on in everyone's lives, she was a true "people person" and had the details of the children and extended family of all of my friends and relatives down to the last, even people she had never met.  When she would come across a person during her inquiries who was behaving in an unusual way she would say that he or she was "a study".

I think she might have loved to have been a historian in the style of Lady Antonia Fraser!  I've been reading the memoirs of Lady Antonia thanks to our fabulous Faux Fuchsia.  (FF always has the best book recommendations!)  Now I'm on to reading a couple of her books, and I will in fact be making "a study" of them.

I'm not going to say I'm a genius when it comes to reading historical non-fiction.  My mind can wander easily and I don't hold on to the details very well, which means I have to go back and read whatever I've missed.  So I'll approach these books like a student, taking down notes, maybe drawing diagrams of the intricacies of the connections between people, dates and places.
This will hopefully have the added benefit of helping out my handwriting.  I don't write much by hand anymore and it really shows.  It's not a skill I want to lose.  I'll be filling up my new Moleskin notebook with my studies.
I spent yesterday doing a huge declutter of my entire house.  I do this fairly often so that the task never gets quite out of hand.  Once I was done getting all of the donations ready for a pickup this coming week I did a big cleaning.  I love to go into the weekend with everything looking tickety-boo.
We're planning to see a movie today: Lady Bird.  It's getting rave reviews and we're really looking forward to going to an actual cinema.  Then on to the pub for drinks!

Hope your Saturday is cozy with something fun thrown in.
