Heritage

In celebration of 20 years of producing top quality British clothing Brora has released a Heritage Collection.  You know I couldn't wait to feast my eyes on this one!
It's a lovely capsule of tweeds, cashmere, shetland wool and classic shapes... all in the colours of nature that Brora does so well.
You can have a look for yourself right here.
Of course I adore it all, though the Heritage Tweed Hacking Jacket is pretty special... I just love that jade green.
There's something about this Scottish Tweed Kilt.  I feel like I could do anything wearing that garment: stand tall, stomp around, get things done!  It's gorgeous.
The mix of Shetland wool and a fair isle detail is completely classic.  Loving the plaid skirt and hair ribbons styled with this sweater:
The whole Heritage Collection really speaks to the quality and longevity that Brora pieces bring to the wardrobe.  The colours, the textures and the silhouettes: these are not trends they are clothes made to be worn and made to last.  Heritage!
Some of my classic Brora pieces: skirt, jumper , stole and tights.
Have you had a look at the Heritage Collection?

    1. Lisa don't you love it! The colour and that fresh plaid, it's fall, winter, spring, summer all rolled into one, it would be a good jacket for California.

  2. I knew this post was coming! The Heritage Collection is stunning and I love the whole line. When I look back to the 90's this is what attracted me to Crew. We use to take the kids to Sarasota to visit my parents and we would shop at Crew for Harris Tweed. Now that I've found Brora I've found my groove again.
I just wish the stores were closer as I love to go with you and we could hold each other up ! Tabs would have to do an intervention.

    1. Marsha Tabs would be standing outside the shop tapping her watch... she'd be very strict with us I just know it. I would also love to go to a store. Next summer we are doing a big walking holiday in the Yorkshire Dales, I don't think I'll be very close to a store but I'm planning a day trip anyway. Of course you know our Mr BP The Shopper will agree as well!
I haven't purchased any of the Heritage pieces or the fall line but I did just buy a Brora Harris Tweed for MrBP as a gift, it's gorgeous, he's going to love it. He's very busy working these days and not reading my blog... I'm sure I've not spoiled the surprise!

    3. Dani, could you not go to Harrogate? I'm sure there's a Brora shop there. But you need to be very wary going in to an actual shop as you will want to buy lots of things. They always have the best window displays...

    4. Sue that sounds like the place... I'll need a day there for sure, I am very excited to see an actual shop. From the photos they look so well-decorated and Brora-ish!

  4. You look stunning in that pic!
I'm not a heritage tweedy dresser at all, it's just never been my style but I always gaze enviously when I see others dressed in that style, I'm more Euro in my style you're the Brit!

    1. Tabs and here I am stuck in the colonies! The entire area where I live is a higher ground settled by Scots, we have great stone and water here, they were some smart ones. Brora fits in really well here, as soon as the weather gets the least bit chilly I'm so grateful for it.

  7. Dani - I knew when I got that email that you would love it! You know I loved the hacking jacket and fair isle cardi - I think I might have had a cardi just like that in 1981 - would be so awesome with the red hair!!! I love the kilt, but really need to have one made again in the McLeod tartan - as do you Byrnna - we had them when I was kids, and they are still so well made - my kids wore them to my brother's wedding! Oh and I like the goat, too!

I think Kate Spade is reading your blog - the just released The Portrait of a Lady and The Age of Innocence in their clutch connection. Either that or they are reading my goodreads book list as I read them both this year!

    1. WMM clearly they are reading the blog AND your goodreads list! I noticed that this week and I thought it was pretty funny.
      Those greens... stunning aren't they.
I cannot imagine Berna in a kilt, I think that is not happening!

  8. Gorgeous colors! Are the tights you have Brora? I really like them, but are they long wearing?

    1. Hi Lane those are the Brora cashmere tights: pure luxury for winter. Mine typically last 2 years before they need replacing, I bought 3 pairs last autumn and I don't need to buy any this year. They are surprisingly sturdy despite the lacy pattern, and so warm. Hand wash them with other cashmere and hang them up to dry. I'm wearing socks over them in my boots this winter to see if I can get more wear out of them, typically the heel will wear out first (though not in a soft shearling boot). I'd like to get 3 winters out of each pair, we'll see!

    2. Hi L, I've also bought Brora tights. I've only worn the lacy ones once or twice, but with another pattern I find that the the inner thighs wear through where my sturdy thighs meet, so be warned if you are built like me! They are wonderfully soft and warm.

    3. Thanks-- I am very good with tights, have Wolfords going on 4 years, so I may be safe with these.

  9. I received the thick Brora catalog in the mail this week and there are more pages turned down than ever this time around. I've chosen several things for my husband as well, he is a Brora fan too. He wore those Brora linen trousers all summer long and raved about the comfort. I found the fit very alluring on him, they are really cut to flatter the male form! I'd like to buy the cashmere dress and finally get one of the hoodies for each of us this year too. The heritage collection doesn't really speak to my style and I have more than enough tweeds and plaids at the moment but I can certainly see you in it Dani.
