Brora Secret Santa

Brora did something unexpected, generous and fun this season with a group of bloggers: a Brora Secret Santa.  It's been so easy because they did all of the gifting for us, we've just had the delight of choosing a secret surprise!  I was able to choose a gift for another blogger and then last week I had a delivery pop up one afternoon in my most favourite box in the world:
The thing is I think my Secret Santa was the real deal, as in the Real Santa because he or she clearly had an inkling as to my perfect gift.
It all began a couple of weeks ago when I had an email from my friend A, who lives in New York State.  Like me she is a massive fan of Brora and we have both collected Brora cashmere over the years... and we've sometimes made a select trade with each other as we are the same size.  A suggested we trade again, so we mailed off packages to one another and I was so excited when mine arrived for a particular reason: one of the jumpers she sent me was the missing link to completing an outfit I've been trying to put together for years.  The outfit involves an exquisite JCrew tweed skirt with a velvet ribbon attached to the waist, it's so pretty and warm but I've never had the perfect jumper to wear with it... until now.
You can see how lovely the plum-coloured Brora cashmere is:

The outfit is complete with my Secret Santa gift.
Then my Secret Santa came along and truly completed the outfit with this gift of burgundy cashmere tights!
How did Secret Santa know?!
Brora cashmere tights are so beautiful and warm they make winter something to look forward to.  I've never had a pair in this wonderful colour and I adore them.  Thank you to my Brora Secret Santa, and thank you lovely Brora people for organizing such a fun and generous event for bloggers.

This fun surprise has had me thinking about winter clothes again even if our weather is not winter-like in the slightest.  I'm still working on a winter colour story for Frock Philosophy and I'll post it up as soon as it's ready.
Be well and stay out of mischief,
xoxDani

    1. Naomi good idea I think I will wear this for Christmas lunch because it will be cozy too. We are having spring-like weather here very strangely but I heard there is a storm coming in time for Christmas.
      Thanks Doll XO

  6. Well it's winter here...but will be 70F on Saturday. I love my one Brora SWEATER (jumper?). And am hoping Santa brings me another. Actually, I already know he will. Your colors are lovely and am so glad the skirt will now see the town.

    1. BB we also have zero winter here and it's meant to be in the mid 50's on Saturday, unheard of in December. Don't you like the term jumper better? Interchangeable with sweater but sweater has the word sweat in it, you see what I mean? Ooooh do you have another one coming to you, well I can't wait to find out the colour. XO

  7. The colors are stunning together Dani. I own that same skirt in a different color way. I just put it back into my closet as it spent sometime in basement closet purgatory. Your scarf is beautiful too. Do you know the name of the scarf by chance? I have spent many years loving scarfs but being afraid that they made me look too old. I have finally given myself to wear them as I please. I ask myself, "If not now, when?" Please show us how you wear your scarves, if you have the time. Enjoy your Christmas goodies and the warmth while it lasts!

    1. Teacups so happy your skirt has left the basement closet purgatory! I love scarves and this particular one was a gift from my hubs this past fall, it's the Maxi twilly Chasse en Inde in the prune/eggplant/beige colourway. I like wearing it with jeans and a plain shirt and also over turtlenecks, the Maxi twilly is easy to wear because it can just be looped once around the neck. Truth is I'm not very good at tying scarves though I do read Mai Tai . I like the way Faux Fuschia wears them too, she often uses a scarf ring for the squares which I sometimes do as well.
I think scarves are terrific with a plain outfit when I don't have much time to be creative or wear a dress etc. But also they look amazing with a plain black dress, the Maxi twilly can be worn easily as a belt too. XO

  12. What a fun thing! I love to have lots of tights--Wolfords,DK, any thing long enough--and those look so pretty and warm. I found a pair of organic cotton ones at Whole Foods from a company called Pact. Still don't have a very good storage/labeling system for tights...Those colors will be beautiful on you.

    1. Lane the storage of tights is such a challenge because they tangle up when left alone it seems. I have a couple of Brora gift boxes from years past that I have kept and I store my tights flat in there, they are so precious they need special handling. I still haven't tried Wolford tights but your organic cotton ones sounds excellent. Apparently nearly everything can be found at WholeFoods! XO

  14. Oh lovely!!! The idea is great and the gift is really perfect. I love those warm colours for winter... I need, for the moment, to stick to more neutral shades and I do have a hard time with this...
I hope you and your family are well.

  15. Dani, You so deserve those tights after sharing so much good about Brora. I would have no idea who they were if it wasn't for you. I love this whole pretty combination and I do hope you post a picture of the outfit!! I think cashmere tights sound so cozy. I don't think we have them in California!! The color is gorgeous. xo

  17. Now that's a fun idea for a brand! And I love the sweater with the velvet ribbon on the skirt. Brora makes the best cashmere I've found, unquestionably. You were a big part of my finding them!

  18. I've been drawn to purple a bit lately (more deep, deep plum tones). But it's so funny as it's not a colour I've ever worn much in the past (not really liked it) and I can still hear Tabitha's voice saying "smells like purple" every time I wear one of my now favourite dresses! It's a second hand (via ebay) Carolina Herrera 3/4 sleeve, so works well for cooler weather and the colour has such richness, it's really lovely to wear at night. I'm sure you'll get lots of use from your beautiful new Brora pieces. What a fun exchange! Loved seeing this post from you pop up in my feed xx
