Liberty Wrap Belt

Liberty Wrap Belt
A wrap belt is not something that I would think of as "my style".  A bit bohemian and loose, I tend to prefer something with a bit more structure.
A couple of years ago I was often trying things outside of my personal style, just to see what I could come up with.  I must have ordered this Liberty Wrap Belt from JCrew during one such time.
My Liberty Wrap Belt from 2011.
I wear mine all the time!  I have this simple Liberty shift dress that I found at The Bay last spring, and I immediately paired it with the wrap belt.  It's a different pattern but the colours mesh well and I do like a smaller Liberty print paired with a larger counterpart.
JCrew still carries these wrap belts, in different patterns now of course.  I think they are a fun summer addition to any sort of plain shift dress, they add a bit of waist definition and colour for a low price.
The current ones come in either yellow or navy, and you can see them here.
Do you wear wrap belts?  How do you like the Liberty versions?

  1. I don't often wear belt on top of a dress or a shirt. I am pear shaped and I found wearing a belt often emphasize my lower half... I love this one... It looks lovely and I really would like to wear more belts as it is a lovely way to accessorize an outfit... I will keep looking one never knows...
Have a lovely Tuesday, mine is halfway gone and tomorrow is a day off here, it will be spend with friends and hopefully good food :-)
    Take care.

  2. i have no wrap belts! I am actually wearing a belt today, but I rarely do wear one, though I know i should as my body shape and lack of hips makes a belt quite helpful!

    1. WMM I'm wearing jeans today and no belt, oooh I wish I had one of those Hermes belts! They look so excellent with denim!

  3. I like how it looks with your liberty dress. I like the metal bits on the belt too.

It strikes me as rather expensive, but perhaps I'm just not accustomed to J Crew prices? I can see why everyone is always waiting for the promos :)

    1. Abby it's all expensive but then it all goes on sale. Right now there is a 25% additional discount on sale prices which brings it down quite a bit, JCrew is always doing this with their prices!

  4. This looks so nice, Dani. The two patterns play well together. Very pulled together chic look.

I wear belts a lot, I have a many of them including a few wrap belts. My black wrap belt is in constant rotation, it's the one I reach for most. Being a straight up and down girl, I frequently employ a belt to provide the illusion of a waist!

    1. DF a black wrap belt would be a good thing to have. I'm definitely going to add in a couple of belts in the fall.

    1. Hi Anon, I definitely still look and I have all I need for sure, just out of the retail cycle for the most part. I'll always be interested in what they are doing! Thanks for the encouragement.

  6. Hi Dani, that belt goes really well with the Liberty dress. My mid-section is a work in progress, so belts can be a bit tricky for me - mostly I just like to cover it up!
Have you been following the Dutch festivities today? The blog The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendour http://orderofsplendor.blogspot.ca/ is doing an absolutely wonderful job of showing pictures and commenting. I don't see any coverage on the news here yet, such a shame.

    2. Patricia aren't the gowns gorgeous! They look like a wonderful family, those little girls in their matching blue dresses with their giant smiles... it's a big day!

    4. I managed to briefly meet the new king in his much younger days (pre Maxima) in a pub called the Paddock, complete with his own retinue of Marines. Back then he was known as Prins Pils (fondness for pints and partying.) But I am certain he has grown up very much since. His queen is very popular (speaks Dutch pretty flawlessly and bicycles). I thought the daughters were very sweet next to their former-queen grandma during the kerk ceremony.

(And yes, I made pancakes and wore a little something orange. April 30 is a great party in Holland every year, but this one looked exceptionally special.)

  7. I have the blue one too! I have 2 vintage Liberty dresses, one in a pink (mainly) paisley and the other in a brown, tan & pink shawl print, and the little blue belt is good with both.

    1. Fred I don't really get tired of Liberty prints somehow, so classic. I did a search on JCrew for this belt and I was shocked at the amount of Liberty items they have, some of the stuff for little girls is just beautiful too.

  9. Hi Dani, the belt goes really well with the Liberty dress. Have you looked at the Liberty dresses the Bay is offering this year?

Hope your week is going well!

    1. Hi Louise, yes I have, or at least I've tried to. Have you noticed that The Bay has just about the worst web site ever?
