Brora Summer Sale

Today is the first day of the Brora summer sale, hip hip hooray!
My spring coat, the Textured Weave Coat  is greatly reduced and still available in all sizes.  I have worn this coat constantly all spring and into the early summer.  It is still proving itself very useful in the heat as a guard against air conditioning.  I have had so many compliments on it, to the point where women are stopping me on the street to tell me they love it.  Highly recommended!  Though don't take my word for it, there are several reviews (one of them mine) on the site and I'm not the only person completely ga-ga over this coat.

It is taking every ounce of my frail willpower not to order the absolutely darling spring suit pictured below.
Spring Tweed Jacket

Spring Tweed Wrap Skirt
 Isn't it so perfect!
I also adore the stole pictured below.
Embroidered Wool Stole in Dove Grey
I have a few wool stoles from Brora and they are so absolutely handy and outfit-making.  Beautiful colours and soft wool... gorgeous.

I've been setting aside money in my paypal account for the sale and with the blasted exchange rate it didn't go as far as I hoped.  I decided to purchase the items on my wishlist that would get the most wear, and these do not include summer items as I live in Canada and it is cold for so much of the year.

Cashmere Aran Coat in Heath
The "heath" colour offered by Brora is a perfect neutral and it looks terrific with brown, which I wear loads of in the fall and winter.  The Cashmere Aran Coat is super luxurious and warm, I betcha I'll wear it every day.  More comfortable than a structured jacket and easy to wear indoors and out, it was top of my list and has been since it premiered last year.
I added some of the taller, thicker Brora socks to my order for the coat.
Cashmere Folk Socks

Cashmere Fair Isle Socks
These socks are quite dear at regular price but at the sale make a sensible, if completely decadent, addition to your legwear drawer.  With boots for walks in the fall and winter or just to wear at home snuggled up in front of a movie, they are bliss on the feet.
I hope your week is going well.  Happy sale shopping if you are indulging this go-round.

  1. Thanks for the heads up! Interested in the cashmere bed socks, any advice? Bought the Jcrew Corgi for $80 last Dec and it developed a big hole after one wash. Supposed to be worn by royalty, I bet Queen Elizabeth was mad.

    1. Marie I love the cashmere bed socks, I have a couple of pairs and I wear them every night even in summer. My feet are always cold at night and they cramp up without my bed socks on. I wash them in my regular wash and hang them to dry, so they're easy to care for too.

    2. I can't sleep without socks, but I like chuck in the washing machine ones, I had a pari of cashmere ones and ruined them.

    3. Marie, Corgi has a great warranty of their own when buying direct. I'm hoping you sent those socks back to JC and got a refund.

    4. add me to the sock-wearing at night club. Not in summer of course. That would be insane in the Sydney heat, but once the temperature drops below 17C I'm in my socks.
I love possum socks - very snug at night!

  4. I was watching for the sale and so excited to get the pre-sale access yesterday as I had planned to buy another cashmere blanket to tuck away for a Christmas gift. Sadly, they were not on sale and today I cannot even find them on the site. Sure, there is the patchwork blanket and a lambswool blanket but not the beautiful cashmere blanket that I wanted. Perhaps the word is out and they are selling well enough that they won't be discounted.

Your coat is lovely and if it weren't for the 3/4 sleeves I might pull the trigger but unfortunately that is a dealbreaker for me. No Brora sale fun for me this time around. Enjoy your loot!

    1. xoxo that could be it, as you know the margins at quite low at Brora and the top sellers do not go to sale (like the black cardigans for example!) Keep an eye out though, there might be further reductions and additions to the sale later in July.

  5. Oh my gosh I adore you in that blue Brora coat with the black gloves: chic and just wonderful-ness - no wonder other women stop you in the street. it never gets cold enough here for a really proper coat like that, but now I wish it would!

    1. AlW, I wear it in the heat, I carry it around and put it on in the air conditioning. I find the AC just freezing all summer, so irritating!

  6. The suit and the coat are both fab! I love those sleeves, I have such stumpy arms and always have to have arms taken up.

    1. Tabs you don't have stumpy arms that I can see!

  7. That Aran piece is the one I've had my eye on. I don't really "need" it though. I'll check the Brora USA site.

    1. Lane I never shop the US site, once the VAT is taken out of the UK prices the total lowers and of course we pay exchange no matter what. I'll let you know about the coat, yes I don't need it either it's definitely an indulgence.

  8. The coat suits you perfectly. No wonder you received so many compliments! :)

Isn't that deal with sales? When something you have been eyeing finally comes on sale, in your size or "re-appears" one day after not being available, you have to pounce on it, otherwise it's GONE! I've learned my lesson!

    1. LR if it goes to the lowest price you think it might it's best to pounce, agreed!

  9. Dear Dani,

Could you comment on the quality of winter and summer Brora cashmere? Is it the same yarn in terms of thickness? Or summer cashmere products are lighter/thinner? This is actually the case with Brora summer mohaire knits. Thank you! Little Scientist.

    1. Little Scientist I find that the cashmere I have bought from their summer line is the same thickness... like the white cropped vneck cardigan for example. I have that one in navy as well and it seems the same thickness as my other Brora cardigans which were purchased from the fall and winter lines in years past (though I picked up all of them during the July sales).
They do list a ply-ness factor in the descriptions so I would judge based on that!

  11. Love, love the coat so much! If only they did smaller sizes....
I also love the summer suit - that would be mine (again, if they went smaller)
I think your coat and socks are very practical additions, but I do think the suit is too gorgeous to pass up!! Sorry to be such an enabler....

  12. Hi Dani,
Brora should use you as the model as the the photograph of you in the coat is better than the catalogue. So pretty Dani and I wanted a navy v-neck but it wasn't on sale. I'll wait till fall as I'm filling my penny jar for Paris in September. When my husband gives me a hard time about lugging a copper pan around I'm blaming it on you Missy.

    1. Marsha, Dehillerin is totally worth it - and I say so even given linguine arms, tiny budget at time and grumbly girlfriend. Sure you can't bribe hubs w/ summat European to help carry on? Bistro steak frite works well in my case.

    2. Hi GetFresh,
Frites will work for sure and can't wait to visit Dehillerin after Dani's post. Don't think I'll be able to keep it polished and might need to send it back East for some scrubbing with the Mop Philosopher.

    3. Marsha hopefully hubs will be so excited by the gleaming copper he won't mind the hauling. Or I could recommend our hotel which was very near Dehilleran!
I'm out of barkeeper's friend but lemon and salt works brilliantly on copper too, I'll be polishing my pots today.

  13. I wanted to buy those socks until I saw the prices, good grief! I actually like both pairs of boots they are showing in the product shots of the socks above, but if the socks are out of my price range, I'd better not even look for the boots! Love your blue coat, and the cardigan you picked out looks so cozy.
