Mop Philosophy Monday

I'm feeling so happy every single time I look at these yellow notecards with their royal emblem, are they not cheering and perfect?  They were a gift from an extremely thoughtful friend.  Some people know just the thing and they know just when to gift it.  That's talent + intelligence.
I've been drinking pints of tea instead of pints of something else I'd rather be drinking.
You know what I'm talking about.
 I polished my copper pots...
but not the chandelier in the parlour, though I did think about it.
I made some vegetable soup, inspired by our beautiful Janet of course!
These soup bowls from Williams Sonoma have been little kitchen soldiers.  You can see they're a bit chipped but none the worse for the wear.

I bought a new refrigerator, it's from Fisher&Paykel.  I know it's wrong to love things but I love my new refrigerator.
My favourite fridge accessory, the bottle of Veuve Cliquot, seems happier too.
We went out for lunch on Saturday and MrBP was wearing such an attractive coat-with-scarf-over-flannel-shirt that I asked him to pose for the blog.  He didn't mind one bit, well you can see for yourself that the outfit gave him confidence.
I've been noting down any ideas in my little Smythson book, also a gift from friends who know just how much I love a monogram.
I'm not sure how to deal with the fact that Scout is not enjoying having her picture taken but I think her body language tells a thousand tales:
Scout, smile! Hmph.
Doesn't she know that she's a dog with a blog?  She's going to have to learn the art of the blog pose.  Don't worry, it's part of our puppy training program, we're on it.
I fluffed my pillows because it's always something I forget to do.  Now I make myself check those cushions every time I walk past.  How do they get squished and rumpled so quickly?  It's a mystery.
I like a woven wicker tray even though they collect dust like the dickens.

I definitely owe you all a Rebecca Update:  she is emerging from the snow, I think she looks Victorious:
Rebecca in the garden, emerging from the snow.
I didn't want to frighten you with pictures of our garden last week, we were pretty much buried.  You can see it is melting and someday, someday we might even see the ground once more.
Look we have far less snow.
I won't hold my breath though.

I hope your week starts off brilliant and stays that way.

  1. Your chandelier is absolutely beautiful and your soup looks so yummy. I will do a leek one this evening. I rarely think of puffing my pillows and I should get your habit... We haven't had any snow at all this winter, so the pictures of your garden brings me comfort :-)
Mr BP looks really elegant, and Scout is still adorable.
The week is on a good start here with a bit of sun.
    Have a fantastic one.

  4. Oh that Scout! What a beauty! Full on pic of fridge please for those of us who find appliances like domestic porn (did I say that?). I love pillow fluffing - Barry sits on ours and they are quite flat afterwards....

Love mr. Bp in his sartorial splendour!

  5. I love the bee monograms too, Scout is a strapping pup these days, Mr BP isn't too bad either!

    1. GSL, Dani will have Scout doing an S-curve red carpet, best angle pose on command by the summer season. I'm sure as the fact paparazzi travel in packs about it.

  7. Scout looks so big! She is really sprouting. She does not look at all happy to be on the end of your camera lens. I hope that changes. I look forward to more Scout pictures.

We are having cooler weather and are overjoyed. The month started unseasonably warm. There is no reason for summer to come any sooner, as long and hot as it is! Besides, another month of being able to wear sweaters and boots is very appealing.

    Have a wonderful week, Dani.

  8. Wow.. a wonderful buffet of great pictures, Dani ! Your notecards remind me of gentler times when mother always insisted that thank you cards be written and sent out the day after Christmas and other gift giving holidays. The bottle of Veuve Cliquot in your lovely new fridge is making me salivate.. just a little. Scout looks adorable and Mr. BP looks spiffy ! Have a wonderful week.

  9. Scout is just adorable. I love your cheery blue and white and blue and yellow things (and especially your blue soup pot!). I'm still in my blue phase. We see almost all grass now, we had a big thaw over the weekend. It was a false alarm for spring, though, it's about to get chilly again. The groundhog always knows. Hope your week is off to a great start!

  10. Wow Scout has grown! Perhaps Scout would like to be outdoors rather than having a photo session. Looking at your snowy backyard I see lots of paw prints in the snow, looks like you have someone to take walks with. Scout is so cute!!! Love your new fridge.I recently got a new stainless steel fridge but word of warning the magnets left scratches and I have polished with no luck. Any advise on how to remove would be appreciated! Soup looks yummy,Dani. Happy Monday!

    1. Anon - I'm in the same boat, scratches on the stainless fridge. Grrr!

    2. Gels, you can gently polish them out with same stuff they use to restore hazing and fine scratches on cars. Think we get it at Canadian Tire Patricia. Will look it up when I get home this week and report back.

    3. Oh, thanks GF, will have a look for that!

  11. Oh, that Smythson book is divine! You have the most clever friends! If Scout needs any training, my Serena is a shameless camera hound. I love FP. My dishwasher is the FP double drawer. My old Frigidaire is chugging along well but perhaps it could have an "accident" so I could reunite the dishwasher with its mate. Jealous!

    1. Jen's right about Serena but the camera really does love her.

  12. Love that Bee card as well. I just replaced my FP dishwasher, which was in need of repair at least 5 times a year!!! Can you scream LEMON? Jenn seems to love hers so I guess it depends on the individual machine. Scout is so adorable. Even unposed, he's perfect. What do you use on your copper? I've just got some new paste from William Sonoma and hope it works better that the last, which was dismal.

    1. Jennifer - it is truly awful when you run into a dud! When I was replacing my stove last fall the repairman told me that he is certain they are only building for an 8 year lifespan max. That is highway robbery!

  13. Scout is so adorable! Our grand daughter Isla is shying away from the camera these days.
Your bee notes are so cheery, well chosen gifts are such a treat.
Sounds like life is ticking along nicely in Mop land.

  14. The Mister is looking quite GQ!
If you use a down pillow 2" wider than the case they will stay plumper...

  15. Things around the BP household are looking quite the bee's knees! You run a beautiful home, Dani, dear! I started plumping my cushions the way that they did on Downton Abbey...back in Season One, I think! Perhaps you remember...they hold them up and drop them on the floor...instant fluff! If I had little ones still, that would be their daily chore. Have a lovely week!

  16. Hi Dani, what a lovely gathering in the comments this Monday! I've never heard of Fisher & Paykel before - enjoy your new fridge!

I make big batches of veggie soup for freezing for lunches - I'm running out, think I'll do pea and ham next, I have a ham bone in the freezer. My husband has a huge collection of flannel plaid shirts - but he never looks as debonair as Mr. BP in them!

  19. Scout looks slightly guilty as though pondering a recent transgression?

I refer to my bees as the girls--100,000 of them by July. So wicked smart. Very cheery notes you have!

    2. Lane I think Scout is very very skeptical of the camera, when it's not around she is very cheerful.

  21. I always used to get in troble at home for sitting "the wrong way" on the chairs at home. Something to do with creasing the cushions.
I think the bee is the symbol of the emperor Napoleon. Very classy

  23. Scout is just so gorgeous, and I love Mr BP's get-up - so classic and chic with that scarf!

It's a nuisance having to drink pints of tea isn't it? I tried hard to drink pints of Prosecco over the weekend, and have been paying the price ever since. That's what happens when old uni friends come to visit. Behaviour spiralled out of control to levels not seen since 1991.

  27. I love my Fisher&Paykel fridge, too. It's OK to love it in my book! We have a Euro-sized kitchen and it was one of the few companies that make a Euro-sized fridge. And I do find that it is amazing at keeping greens fresh.
