The Mop Philosopher's Mail

Source: The Philosopher's Mail
This morning I came across maybe the best thing I have ever found on the internet: The Philosopher's Mail.
It wasn't exactly created for us Mop Philosopher's but it might have been.
Try this bit of news: Victoria Beckham is a philosopher.
Then go on and read everything else.  Created by the brilliant Alain de Botton this news feed takes the ghastly and gets us pondering.
Hope your day is bright Tooties,
xoxDani

  1. LUNCH READ Thanks for the tip Dani. Loved the Mop Monday image set, that blue, yellow and our golden girl Scout. This is a great contrast. Like any philosopher worth their salt you have lots of facets. Happy hump day darlink!

    1. GF I was thinking it is the ultimate lunch read, great little break. Alain de Botton was on Jian this morning talking about this, how I love him so. So happy I wasn't out walking Scout or I'd still be in the dark on it!
      Thanks Toots.

    1. Tabs is this a fairly new site? In conjunction with his new book maybe? Did you read "Prince George is not very intellectual", love that one.

    2. Tabs, you've had a tough week; pour yourself a stiff Royal Reverend and maybe this teeny bopper slumber party chatter will wash away

  3. Hi Dani,
Just have a question unrelated to this topic but thought you might know the answer. I received an email yesterday that La Canadienne was having a sale. Problem was there website wasn't working here in the USA. Now today it is working however whenever I choose a style site says not available purchase at a store. Do you happen to know a store, and is that common procedure?

    1. Hi Anon, I have to say that La Canadienne really needs to work on their site, it is terrible. Every time they have any kind of promotion or sale the site crashes and then if I ever do go over to it again all sizes are gone... I know there are stores in Ottawa and Toronto that carry them and I believe the brand is available at Nordstrom's in the US but I always have to order online due to my location. It's frustrating! I've never been able to catch a sale on any of their styles. If the boots weren't so amazing I'd probably never buy them just because of the website problems.
My only suggestion would be to phone them and see what they could do for you, maybe locate a sale item for you?

    2. Hi Anon, This may or may not be helpful, but 6pm.com carries La Canadienne boots. They usually have items from previous seasons at pretty nice prices, but there's no guarantee that they have the particular styles you sought in this sale. Still, I have ordered regularly from 6pm.com (it's the outlet for Zappos) and they're fast and reliable. Shipping is free too. Hope this helps!

  4. Oh my goodness, that is absolutely wonderful, the whole site.

I am probably being overly earnest in my reading, but the piece on Emma Watson actually made me teary-eyed.

    1. Sarah that bit had the same effect on me. These images which normally seem vacuous and frazzling, under the dissection of the philosopher's offer something much more, it's fascinating isn't it?

  5. Dani Thankyou for the quick response. I agree the site is awful and frustrating. I may have lost my chance at getting my size.i will check a few shops. Hopefully winter is almost over! But baby it's cold outside. Is that a song? Thanks again Dani.

  6. OMG Dany, this is the best thing ever, thank you for sharing. The piece Prince George is very unintellectual is my favorite. A gossip site by a philosopher, what a fantastic idea. I already had a high appreciation for de Botton (even if I haven't read him in a while) but he just got to genius status.

    2. Ema Larry Page torturing us with his jeans might be my favourite too. It's just so so true and so well put. I'm so happy you like the site Ema.

  7. Looks like a great read, but I am trying to cut my online time and read more books... Which I do during my lunch break! Already my second book this year!

  9. Perfect, I can get my pop culture fix with a side of intellectualism. Really, this is a fantastic site--and wonderful to bring some depth and meaning to seemingly superficial images and topics.
