Brora's New York Party

Silk blouses from Brora.
Have you taken in the Madison Avenue Magic and Glamour that was the Brora New York Launch Party?  Feast your eyes right here, you'll be able to see for yourself that there was a bagpipe fellow and fashion people everywhere.
Imagine being there... the excitement and the fabulousness: a party celebrating Brora with everyone dressed in their Brora finery?

Of course it has me thinking about what I would have worn... when I think of New York combined with Brora I think of bright lights mixed with cozy, so a vibrant print on a black silk as illustrated by the blouses above, or a festive tweed flecked with gorgeous Brora colour:
I think this jacket would have been just the ticket with a bit of colourful Brora cashmere underneath, black wool/silk pants and some New York City inspired high heels.
My city-ish Brora jacket: add black for  the party!
I'm so excited for Brora and you know where I'll be dragging MrBP the next time we hit The Big Apple!

  1. That did look like quite a party Dani with names I've caressed in many a tavern...Tennant and Guinness. Ms Stapleton looked in good spirits and we at The Den are pulling for them as they establish a North American beachhead and get their ducks in a row prior to seeking the ultimate prize-Chicago.
    We'll be waiting.

  4. What a fun party! I must say that Brora do customer service really well - as you know, we had a lovely time at the shop, so when I sent in our tax refund form I added a little thank you note, naming the girls in the store. Just the other week, I got a thank you note for my thank you note!!

Dani - I think you'd be a dead cert for a job if they came to Canada!!

    1. Patricia I was born for sales, I like to sell people on the gifts that I buy for them, it's a bit of a family joke.
Agreed that their customer service is so amazing, there's no comparison to the Brora team.

    1. Naomi I think Victoria Stapleton is amazing and I'd love to meet her someday...they actually invited me to the New York launch but with my daughter unwell earlier this fall I couldn't commit to leaving, especially with MrBP out of town working etc and all of these mad renos happening.
I might have to wait until London which will hopefully be sooner than later and fingers crossed will mean a day out with Naomi as well! ;)

    1. Steph they could film a commercial with the two of us climbing a mountain to Brora, determined, worn-out, but well-dressed! ;)

  7. Love the candy-colored tweedy flecks--when I was in HS I had a pair of trousers like that and my friends and I called them my Good-n-Plenty pants after the candy (do you have that type of licorice candy in Canada?).

    Also, I meant to mention--
As you know, last spring I was a terrible copycat and picked up the Kate Spade Darby jacket in navy tweed after you featured it on your blog. I've been stalking the matching skirt since then and I recently found it for $25, hurrah! I seldom wear my skirt suit pieces together but it is so nice to have both halves of the suit--makes much better use of coordinating items.

    1. Hex I am so happy you found the skirt, that stalking paid off! I still love that suit and though it is a tweed skirt suit it is a very great cut and kind of saucy, honestly still one of my favourite outfits for spring. I think Ema found it at Kate Spade and recommended it to me? She gets credit!
Ha! We have the good-n-plenty candy here too, so colourful but also sick making because it was addictive.

    1. BB me too and I think you will love it but let us know pretty please. I bought one for my daughter last year and she wears it all the time, very happy I bought that for her before our dollar tanked!

  9. Well, we all know you would have been the Belle of the Brora party if you'd been able to attend the opening Dani! I'm sure Mr BP is quaking in his boots thinking how much closer you are to an actual Brora store now too!

    1. Heidi oh thanks and goodness knows when we'll be in NYC again anyway which will relieve any stress on MrBP (though he's usually the troublesome shopper when we travel, I'll tell you about that sometime!)

  10. I can't believe they didn't invite you and pay your expenses! shocking!
But seriously, how fab that they've opened up in the US. I wonder if they'll expand further?
I'd love one here in Sydney, but the climate probably means it's not likely...

    1. Ruth I'd like to see them expand further but it is a lot of work I'm sure and very complicated (especially in Canada so I don't think we'll see them anytime soon). They kindly invited me but of course my travel/hotel would be out of my reno-drained pocket and I'm sure you know how that goes!
I hear it is very hot in Aus just now, the climate is perhaps not ideal for Brora you're right!

  11. I kept forgetting to check the Brora site to check their opening date. Hopefully I will have time to walk to the new store tomorrow before I return home for the grandbaby's birthday party. I will be sure to send a full report when I see the store..I bet it is going to be gorgeous!

    1. Teacups please stop by and let us know how you like the store, I'm very curious. I think they quietly opened last week but the big launch and party was this past Tuesday... the store looks so pretty, as it gets chillier in NYC I think they will do very well.

  12. I visited the new Brora shop this morning and it was really lovely. There were sections for men and children in the right side of the store. The other side of the store was devoted to women and there were beautifully displayed sweaters, coats and shelves of wraps, scarves and accessories . They also had fresh flowers and colorful window displays. The store is on Madison Avenue with many other high end shops including small boutiques and some larger chain stores such as a J Crew Collection store, Brooks Brothers, Barbour and a multi level Joe Fresh.i will email some of my photos to Dani. I hope to return to Brora soon and find some treasures.

  13. Wow that new Brora store looks beautiful. Don't you wish we could go Dani? At least they should have flown you in for the opening. You are their premiere Brora ambassador in North America for sure! :)
I love the jacket. Reminds me of New York lights at night! xx Kim

    1. Kim it reminds me of that too. :) Just as while it would have been a disaster if I had been travelling this week with everything going on around here. Also very spensive flying to NYC from Toronto and a hassle with customs lines etc so just as well... but I have enjoyed looking at the party photos immensely and I'm so excited that such a great brand has made their big NA debut.
