Smythson Antonia Wine Tote

I'm just kidding, I don't think Smythson really designed the Antonia bag to tote a bottle of wine, but yet it does.  Isn't this a good feature of a handbag?  I am often on foot and I don't really want people to remember me as the lady with the booze tucked under her arm... a handbag must have the capability to hold a bottle of wine.
This past week I brought this bottle of Pinot Grigio to the little spa I go to for my facials, as a bit of an apology.  I missed my last appointment which is something I never do, in a fog of headaches for a good part of January I've been completely off my game.
As anyone will tell you Health Is Everything, so I've been focussed on wellness in a much more serious way (as opposed to my usual slapdash style).  This means lots of sleep, some exercise but not too much, regular balanced meals (never any sugar) and zero glasses of wine, but plenty of water and herbal tea.
I went to Gentle Yoga yesterday with Laura and even that I managed to overdo, I've strained my neck and woken up with a headache... fortunately the coffee is easing that a bit.  In all things, sometimes we just need to Calm Down!
Speaking of calm, here we are at Friday, any plans out of the ordinary?  I have a Graston Technique massage today for my neck and you'd think it was Christmas I'm so excited.  My Lil' Rascal has a medical appointment today too so there will be driving around.  The cold snap is back which will make Scout the Fur Pony very excited to go on a walk, who knew a dog could love cold weather so much?
I hope your Friday is calm if that is what you need today, or full of beans if it's not!
Have a good one,
xoxDani

  1. Sorry you injured yourself, Dani. Hope your neck feels better soon.

I thought I'd try 'dry January' this year. No wine for the month of January. I've heard people say they had a physical response to that (losing a couple of pounds, sleeping better), but I didn't experience that myself. I don't need to lose any weight, but I was wondering if I would. My sleep pattern is the same. So, my conclusion is that my wine consumption isn't enough to make a difference! LOL (I have a few glasses per week in a normal routine).

    1. Vava it sounds to me like you have the perfect wine consumption, no need to change or have the dry month! I think people who drink lots on weekends or on a daily basis find a big difference when they have a dry month. For me it makes no difference, I still get headaches and I don't sleep any better. I've lost some weight recently but that's only because I'm so nauseous when I have migraines that it's difficult to consume food, ugh.
People who drink moderately have better health outcomes than people who drink nothing, so I would say keep on your very moderate drinking regime! ;)
Thank you it feels much better today, I was so happy walking home from my massage with a neck free of pain, my head felt light as a feather instead of feeling like a bowling ball as it normally does! xx

  2. Hi Dani. I am so very sorry you are still feeling unwell. Sending you healing light, good thoughts, and well wishes for a better February!
The rest of my comment is a bit off topic. But I am hopeful that your reader who goes by LG might see it. I mentioned to you in your "coat and scarf" post that I am on the hunt for pants. You mentioned the Shawn C fixture Theory pant in Italian wool. I have not been able to track it down (I haven't given up though!). But I did track down another nice pair of Theory pants at the outlet price of 40% off retail. Not a bad thing. What I am most excited about our three pairs of pants I have recently purchased on eBay. Thanks to your reader LG I started looking on eBay for pants. I believe she referred to it as upcycling, a term I have never heard before. I am happy to report I found a high waisted wide leg wool pant by Akris for $24! A cigarette style Akris pant for $54! And a beautiful navy wool pants by Ralph Lauren Purple label for $69! These three pants together do not equal the one pair of Theory outlet pants at 40% off. So as you might have guessed, I will be returning the Theory pant. So thank you LG for your very helpful tips. And thank you Danny for your beautiful blog.
Wishing you a beautiful day :)

    1. Alicia wow that is some great eBay shopping! LG was a huge help in recommending eBay for pants. Thank you LG!
I feel bad though because I didn't specify that those Theory pants I wear are actually Ponte, not wool. And even though I know leggings aren't pants they are in fact... leggings. But they are so thick and highly structured it works out fine, but only because I wear 900 layers over them. Your new (to you) real pants sound much better!
Thank you for the good wishes, I'm getting very serious in February with all of the massages and physiotherapy and I'm not going to do any more yoga moves/other exercise involving my neck until I get this resolved. I have no time for this nonsense of having migraines twice a week!
Thank you so much Alicia xx :)

    1. Lisa thank you, I'm frustrated because I have stuff to do. But the massage was a big help and I feel hopeful. No more yoga for me until it's resolved though. I guess I could just go and lie on the mat and practice my meditative breathing! xx

    1. Jeannine thank you! It was a big help and I've never had such a serious massage. She also gave me some exercises to do at home with this little beastie ball thing. I am hopeful! Feeling really good this morning. Hope you're well too xx

  6. A lady with a wine bottle under her arm is someone most people want to meet...unless she is pushing a shopping cart and talking to herself on the street. Enjoy the massage🙂

  7. I admire you for abstaining from the sugar and the wine - two things which I am unwilling to forego. I do not overindulge but I do like a glass of wine with cheese and crackers before dinner and I love a sweet treat with my cup of tea after dinner. I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. slf I had a glass of wine last night with dinner and it was divine. I've learned that the wine doesn't trigger my headaches, well it would if I had too much I guess but that's not my issue. Funny I don't have a sweet tooth in the slightest so it doesn't cause me any misery to give it up! I can't live without carbs though (pasta!) Thank you xx

  8. Hi Dani, hope the massage does the trick for your neck. Your Antonia bag is so lovely, the wine certainly arrived in style!

This weekend, and for the following three, I'll be checking out the shops downtown, looking for Christmas and birthday gifts to take with us to the UK. It's so expensive to mail everything that we thought we'd give it a try. Not sure if we'll find the perfect thing for everyone, but I've already earmarked a drawing set for my friend's son who hopes to go to art college next year. And I just ordered a lovely scarf in the Brora sale to be picked up at my friend's house ... so postage savings all around! 😊

    1. Thank you Patricia my massage was brilliant I left feeling like I had freedom in my neck!
What a great idea. I know too well the insane cost of mailing things to the UK so this is the perfect solution. That drawing set sounds just the thing. And a Brora scarf, beautiful! Enjoy the shops xx
