But I Love You More!

The Most Beautiful Navy Coat In The World
The Alpaca Tailored Coat from Brora
Just when I was spending the day thinking about how much I love Brora, (spurred on while admiring their website re-do and the most beautiful tailored navy alpaca coat I've ever set eyes on) our friend Rebecca advised me that I was on the Brora blog... with Lola!
Thanks Brora!  And guess what I love you more!  Just today I was organizing my clothes for fall and adding in the navy cashmere sweater dress I am wearing in the picture above.  I partnered that dress consistently with jeans and a Brora cashmere stole in oatmeal these last few months... those items saw me through every single chilly night up north this summer.  The Brora pieces are both in incredible condition after much wear and many washings, all ready for the next season.
Cashmere Dress
Speaking of the next season, I couldn't help setting my sights on this latest cashmere dress from Brora. The chunky neckline balances out the slim cut creating an instant outfit... I can see it with some tall riding boots in a dark brown, topped with a longer-length coat.
Cashmere Cowl Polo Neck
It might have been a sweltering hot day today but it didn't stop me from admiring the gorgeous lines of this cowl-neck jumper.  Slim through the trunk and perfect over denim jeans or a neat skirt, this is a jumper with personality-plus.  I love the look of a big turtleneck under some wide lapels on a coat, don't you?  Classic and effortless, that's how I see this being worn.

The cashmere cable knit jumper is another one to hit my list... in this classic neutral "parchment" shade or the navy, I'm sure it would be "borrowed forever" by one of the rascal daughters but I might try it anyway, I'll just have to find a good hiding spot for it.
Cable Knit Jumper
What have I really been wearing during this in-between-season weather?  A silk blouse (the three on the right are Brora from seasons past) feels just right on the body these days, comfortable on a chilly morning yet still breathable as the day moves into warmer, humid weather.  I've been wearing mine with some denim jeans and a pair of ballet flats, really easy but with a feeling of luxury and finish too.
Autumn Blouse Collection
I've been working on a fall colour story as I think about what to add in and take away.  I really enjoy the organizing during these transitions and of course having a look at the direction Brora is taking is always inspiring... thanks Brora for cheering me up today and every day!

  3. How exciting that you're on the Brora website!
Must have a quick look in a minute.

I love your Autumn Blouse Collection. Such beautiful colours and patterns.

No need for winter knits and coats here. We've gone straight from Winter to Summer, with temps of 29 degrees!!

    1. Ruth my gosh we had the same temps yesterday, but now going into the weekend it's due to get chilly.
      Thanks Ruth!

  4. And just when I had set aside a few hours to stay in the city and organize fall and winter stuff, the thermometer hit a sticky 97 degrees this afternoon!

    1. Fred don't you think Lola is the real star? She's so cute, she is my friend Sara's dog but I am her favourite, most favourite dog-sitter.
Yes it was hideous here yesterday, 102 with humidity.

  5. How exciting you're on the Brora blog (again!). Love your picks for Autumn/ Winter. I like their oversized Cashmere long line jumper in the grey - would be perfect over leggins or skinny jeans. Some of their jumper and cardigan colours are beautiful for the season too - the tea rose pink is particularly lovely. But, we're almost ready to pack away our Winter clothes here... I'm in transeasonal mode at the moment, with my woollen items out at night when it cools down. xx

    1. Heidi that caught me eye, it also comes in navy which would be perfect over dark jeans. Of course you're going into summer now, you'll have to shop the end of season sales for your next winter!

  7. Congratulations for this Brora post! As I am writing we had our first week of true Autumn weather and I must confess I am delighted to pull out my tall leather boots, my tweed skirts and my cashmere cardigans. I love navy very much. I find it as formal as black but more versatile. I am working on the Fall/Winter colours as I have noticed during the past days that I wasn't very consistent, which makes my clothes organisation a bit complicated. I am sure i will find lots of inspiration here.
    Take Care.

  8. well OF COURSE they honoured you, you darling girl! They would be fools not too! Love this post and it is so funny as just before I went out yesterday I went over to the site and saw the navy coat and said to myself "hmm - I think I know whose closet I will see you in!"

There are a few things that will be mine and with the 10% off I may place an order for that skirt right now! The tea rose is coming to me after Christmas - I love, love, love the colour. I am off to do a bit more drooling!!!

  10. I love your picks...but, eep!...the navy cowl is sold out in the smaller sizes already! Am jonesing for the coat, dress, rocker 70s gilet, tassel suede shoes, biker boots, and anything in the sumptuous kingfisher colour! For starters. Shall be heading to the UK in a few weeks...anxious to see it all first hand!

    1. Rebecca oh lucky to see it all in person! I noticed that the navy was sold out, their navy is really the perfect shade. You must report back on your store experience. I'll be in England next summer for a month and I'm planning a trip to Brora for sure. I'm going to warn them I'm coming!

    2. Shall do...am playing with the idea of starting a blog to share my stay in India, and as UK is en route, perhaps I'll start early... have a lovely weekend!

    1. Thanks Louise, that was very nice of them. They chose some of my favourite Brora outfits too, like the cashmere fair isle waistcoat that I wear under my LLBean hunting jacket for skiing! It's all got me looking forward to the cooler weather.

  12. I always think, when you post the rare photo, that you have a possible career as a model in front of you:).

And I ADORE Brora. They win, in my book, the cashmere sweepstakes. I think you introduced me to the brand, and I thank you.

    1. Hi Lisa thanks so much for saying that, you are too kind to me. If I introduced you to Brora I am very happy... such a great company and their jumpers become old friends. I agree they win in cashmere!

  13. Your blog title cracked me up!
Its pouring here, my neighbour's lovely gardener just popped round to mine, ( she is the visionary rather than the labourer) dressed in head to toe - hacking jacket, jeans and Hermes boots/scarf - I was in my priosn sweats - must try harder.
    It's very much autumn here.

    1. Tabs, prison sweats! The outfit on the gardener sounds very nice... your autumn always comes so much earlier than ours, well are you going to copy that outfit?

  14. What a gorgeous picture Dani. I can't think of a better Brora ambassador. :). Those pieces look divine, love each one. I had planned to do my fall closet transition this week, but instead am working on a rummage sale for next week. Mainly lots of toys and household, but I'm hoping to get through at least some clothing as well!

    1. Hi M, thanks so much. Rummage sale! Well it will be nice to have that done with and some things cleared out... I have just finished a de-clutter and everything left yesterday, it was nice to see it go on to better homes. I had to pare down our books which I always find really difficult. Good luck!

  15. Congrats on Brora using your photo. The photo certainly captures a "Brora moment" and the dog adds a major cuteness level. Your pics for fall are lovely, especially the coat. Sorry to veer off into a different subject but I'm thinking about buying a pair of La Canadienne leather riding boots and am wondering if you find them true to size. Thanks.

    1. Hi AmW, Thanks very much! I do find La Canadienne true to size, I have two pairs of their leather boots and took my normal size in both, they are very well made and they really last, worth the investment I think!

  16. Hi Dani-How lovely you are in your Brora! Nothing like a fabulous real-life photo of a "Brora Girl" with a cute pup, enjoying the great outdoors. Your silk blouses are very pretty. Still wearing summer clothes here in KY, what with the high temps and even higher humidity. We too are supposed to have a cool down tomorrow, just in time to beat a path to the lake-yay!

I have only a short time each year to enjoy things like cashmere sweaters. The cooler weather is anxiously awaited and not here nearly long enough. I do look forward to seeing your color story for fall.

    1. DF I wish you could wear sweaters just a wee bit more often. Thanks very much! Yes I'm working on my colour story, sadly I'm massively behind in my paperwork so I've chained myself to my desk for the day. I'd rather be looking at my Brora jumpers!

  23. Yeah Dani and the picture with Lola is adorable. Looks like I'm going to be in Brora heaven once again as the navy coat is talking to me. Guess where I went to dinner last night? Relais de l'Entrecote. Stephen was in heaven and the waitress figured him out and kept filling his plate. This afternoon we're going to see the copper pans. I'm going to top him up with wine before sticker shock. I went by the L.V. store and thought of you.
We biked for 6 days in the Loire Valley and loved it.
I only wish for an emergency landing in Scotland and Tabs could take me to Brora. Wouldn't that be fun.
So happy for you on the Brora site . xo.

    1. Marsha! This warms my heart! I'm so happy you are in Paris and that you had dinner at our favourite restaurant! It's not fancy but it is perfect isn't it. They figure MrBP out pretty darn quick too, oh actually we all have seconds when we go there who am I kidding!
I hope you had fun at Dehilleran, MrBP is topped up with wine the entire time we are in France which explains the copper champagne buckets etc.
It sounds like you are having a wonderful trip, travel safely darling I want to hear all about it when you get home!
