Summer Wedding Outfit: Greens and Blues

Next weekend we have a family wedding to attend and we couldn't be more excited about it.

My cousin is getting married and this is a really big event in our relatively small family, we've been looking forward to it for a year.

I knew from the get-go that I wanted to wear my green silk dress that is my absolute favourite summer outfit, not least because it was a gift from my dear friend Tabs.

I typically wear this dress with my little gold handbag and some neutral and gold flats with a small heel... but for this wedding that didn't feel quite exuberant enough.

I own some navy patent Repetto dancing heels that are my absolute favourite shoes to wear, I can dance in them and practically run in them, and they are so comfortable despite the three and a half inch heel.
I also like to wear this dress with my Kate Spade necklace in greens and blues with a turtle clasp... so what about a bag in greens and blues?

I decided to go on a search for just such a little bag and I looked everywhere.  I searched every online store I could think of, every vintage shop on eBay and Etsy, until finally I decided to try Handmade shops on Etsy.

I found this seller out of the UK who constructs these amazing little silk pouch bags.  She dreams up absolutely beautiful colour schemes and lines the bags with a cotton sateen, finishing them with lovely little drawstring cords.  I LOVE THEM.
Bag in green and blue.
Handmade by TheOccasionalPurl.
I have to say too that these bags remind me of Picasso's Harlequin paintings, a favourite series of mine.
Kate Spade necklace.
My one Kate Spade item... that I shall treasure forever.

The bag has these dreamy ocean tones of green and blue that to me really echo the spirit of the Kate Spade necklace.
Do you have any weddings to attend this summer?  If so are you excited about your outfit planning?

Have a really lovely weekend,

  1. Dani, this is beautiful! Every detail so perfect. That little silk pouch is exactly what you needed. You're right, the colors are very reminiscent of the ocean. I love the way everything in the outfit coordinates and it isn't matchy matchy. You will be the best dressed guest at the wedding. I like your color stories so much, by the way. This was a lovely post to see when I opened my reader.

No weddings in my circle until fall. To be honest, I don't know what I'd wear to a spring or summer event. My closet is woefully light on event dresses. I'm sure I'd have to shop for something. Green is a favorite color of mine, maybe I'd channel my inner DaniBP and look for something in that shade. So nice that Tabs gifted it to you! She's a doll and I miss her internet presence.

    1. SD me too I'll always miss Tabs' blog because it was SO GOOD. Those were the days. Thank you so much these are my favourite colours and I'm excited to wear them. A fall wedding sounds so nice though, that will be a fun outfit to organize! Weddings are the best... we go to too few! xxx

  2. Really beautiful - and you're right about Picasso's harlequin period - so reminiscent of that. I'm very curious about the shoes because I really don't wear high heels anymore because of comfort. No weddings this summer - last summer tons. This summer, new babies!

    1. Kathy okay perhaps there is something better than a wedding... A NEW BABY. How lovely that you have some on the way.
Repetto heels are made for dancers and they are so comfortable as a result. I bought mine from a Canadian store called Gravity Pope (online). They also sell the famous Repetto ballet flats which I do not find comfortable to wear unlike many people.
I've had this pair for several years and they show no signs of wear. I once ran several blocks through the rain in them to get to the theatre on time. They're kind of amazing. If you have trouble with heels and want to give them another go I would suggest trying on some from Repetto! xxx

  3. Fantastic ensemble!! Love it all! I, too, was curious about the shoes - with a high heel being so comfortable! Very unusual!! I was a follower of Tabs blog as well, and miss it very much. That dress she sent you is fantastic, I can see why you love it.

  4. So pretty! Enjoy your festive wedding! A couple of years ago J.Crew made a number of items in a pretty silk print in those tones.

I miss Tabitha's blog too. Her life seemed so glamorous, and if it weren't for her I wouldn't have splurged on my red Roger Viviers in Paris last year.

  6. Beautiful. And I love that you had a bag made - seems like such a frugal, community-focused, personal thing to do for a wedding celebration. <3
